I think enough has been said on data, big data, data analytics out there and the hype is justified for a lot of companies that have huge amounts of data.
Having worked on various projects in analytics for Fortune 500 to small-medium businesses to growing businesses, I’ve seen my small share of analytics projects out there.
However, This is a completely different view from that here and is for small-medium businesses mainly.
For any new business or small business or rather any business that does not have a problem of too much data, too many reports, your main goal should be consistent and high-quality marketing and leads. You should NOT even be thinking about analytics at all.
Marketing.
Leads.
Sales.
Funnel.
Conversions.
Customers. New Customers.
These are the things that your focus should be on.
Yes, do set up very basic analytics tracking at the start just for reference. But, you do not need a data scientist/data analyst or any level of analytics at this stage.
Just choose a few very basic metrics like customers/signups/traffic/conversions and that’s the end of analytics at this stage.
Come back to analytics when you are growing, have a lot of data and have some lofty business goals to achieve.
