Top SEO Reporting Templates for Your Business

December 21, 2017 By Pravin Singh 2 Comments

Google.

Search engines.

The birth and eventual growth of search engines have been one of the greatest events in the Internet Age as this has literally democratized and centralized information at our fingertips.

SEO has become a 65 billion $ industry as per 2016 reports and is estimated to grow to 72 billion $ in 2018 and it will keep growing as the search engines become more personalized, customized using the machine learning and artificial intelligence era that’s going on currently.

In this post, I’ll be sharing some basics of SEO, how to choose the right metrics and finally the SEO reporting templates that you can use right away. You can even these SEO reports for clients directly as they are super helpful to analyze the business and make data-driven decisions.

Importance and Growth of SEO

The way SEO is increasing, every small business will eventually need an SEO strategy and work to find their next customers in an urgent need. Appearing and making your business relevant in context to your target customers problems/issues and real-time of need via searches is the key.

In this way, we will have an era where the search is one of the must-haves for every small, medium and big business to educate, help and eventually acquire customers. The growth and ROI for this is quite debatable as it takes a long time to actually rank on searches depending on the industry, competition and reach you want. However, once ranked, there is a good amount of traffic that you can enjoy for a long time! There are definitely updates needed and other folks can topple you off – but the organic free traffic and conversions are important for any business. The only investment is valuable content, SEO basics and all the time involved in the same that you are putting into it.

Having worked in SEO for quite a few clients and given great results to them, even though that’s not my main business (data analytics services) and core expertise, I can personally say that the main focus has to be on two cornerstones of SEO only for actual growth at the start:

Why you do Not need analytics or another dashboard

October 20, 2017 By Pravin Singh Leave a Comment

I think enough has been said on data, big data, data analytics out there and the hype is justified for a lot of companies that have huge amounts of data.

Having worked on various projects in analytics for Fortune 500 to small-medium businesses to growing businesses, I’ve seen my small share of analytics projects out there.

However, This is a completely different view from that here and is for small-medium businesses mainly.

Ecommerce Metrics to Track – Learning from Columbus the Explorer!

July 25, 2017 By Pravin Singh Leave a Comment

Christopher Columbus had no GPS, no Internet, no travel club, no maps. The explorer made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502.

Columbus did have a compass and it did get the job done! Well, it sort of got the job done! He did use the compass along with his quadrant and a set of celestial navigation tools and techniques that were known during his time.

More importantly, because of his discoveries, the magnetic compasses became very important navigational tools. This led to more research & development of many more tools & techniques that were used with time which kept growing and has led to the sophisticated technology being used today for navigation.

Your business also needs navigation if you want to reach your business goals strategically.

A number of tools, techniques & tactics today is overwhelming. The focus should, therefore, be on something that will not change with time – i.e. a framework that you can follow rather than just a list of tools, metrics that you use to track your business and where it’s going

No. This is not another post on another set of metrics that you need to track.

Instead in this post, I want to provide a single basic framework to follow to decide your metrics and Key Performance Indices as your business grows. Every growing business needs to track metrics and more importantly, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to understand their performance, growth and much more.

Executive Dashboard | Data Visualization – Case Study

July 11, 2017 By Pravin Singh 1 Comment

The Client, a Real Estate Company, was using various online marketing methods to improve their presence and grow their business.

The challenge was the overwhelming number of reports, excel sheets, google sheets being used for reporting and analyzing what is going right and wrong. This made taking decisions very slow and hard for the executives. They had to juggle between multiple platforms to understand the performance and reports of each of them.

Challenges: Outdated, cumbersome Reporting methods and Siloed Data.

The solution that I had proposed to them was an Executive Centralized Dashboard to create a single source of truth on the hand of executives to take data-driven decisions on the same.

The business was using their website, a CRM Tool – Insightly, Facebook primarily for Social Media, AdWords for paid marketing and MailChimp for their Email Marketing. For each of them, they had to login to multiple tools, look at their reports, their analytics etc – which led to a waste of time and siloed reporting where the big picture is often missing of where the business is headed and what to do next. The focus becomes only on the tool rather than on the big picture of growing your business

So – the first step was bringing everything into one centralized tool that can handle all the data sources. Then we had to build dashboards with the most relevant KPIs for each of the data sources for the business. We chose Domo for all this work and went ahead in setting up all the dashboards

Now, I will be showing just samples and parts of the executive dashboards that we built for our client and some results that they had with it.
